About
Family, Jackets, Sneakers and Music. That will get you started on what’s important to me.
Grew up in the Twin Cities of Minnesota where I enjoyed playing sports, hanging out with the family, listening to music and going to concerts. As a teen I feel in love with snowboarding and after high school chased the snow by attending college in Bozeman, MT. The snow was better than my school acumen so after a couple good winters, I moved back to Minneapolis where I took an interest in design and enrolled in an Associates Degree program for “Desktop Publishing” which was Graphic Design before Graphic Design was a real thing.
After receiving my Associates Degree, I linked up with a friend who I had done a bunch of traveling with and we formed a small web design company called TwistDigital. This was during the infancy of the internet and we started building basic webpages for customers both in the Twin Cities and across the country. Focusing more on the business side of our company, I got antsy and decided to make another move closer to the mountains where I could get my Bachelors Degree in Business. I moved to Burlington, VT and enrolled in Champlain College. After graduating in under 3 years with by BA, I started applying for every job that Burton Snowboards posted, hoping I could land a job at not only the best place to work in Burlington but also one of my favorite brands since taking up snowboarding as a teen.
I landed a job as a Demand Planning assistant and started to learn the post production side of the outdoor apparel industry. After moving into a Planner role and managing several different categories, I was presented with the question that changed by career path entirely; “if you could do anything at Burton, what would it be?” I instantly answered with “I’d like to make boots or jackets.” After interviewing for both positions, I took the position of the outerwear developer and haven’t looked back. Burton Snowboards was such a great place to cut my teeth as developer. Not only did I get to work on product that I truly loved but I got to use it and test it on a regular basis.
